He immediately remembered that the entire western part of the United States had been spared from radioactive clouds. He had encountered the name 'metafire' on the net before, but he had never before seen this place, this museum. He clicked around several of the cities and sure enough found the cities apparently frozen in time, just before the blasts. Furthermore, unless entire cities were mirrored on the net, there were intact "ftp" sites and other kinds of information available that just could not have been found by robot web crawlers. It really did seem like these people had intentionally mirrored all the city out just before the cities were bombed.
Unknown to Jack, in Sante Fe, a gray haired gentleman was sitting at his Hewlett-Packard console watching Jack explore. He had noticed the explorations of the last few weeks from Georgia Tech people, but, now, there was one coming in, with the same Netbill password, from Houston. Furthermore, this was a Aol account. Probably an individual. The individual appeared highly directed. Her name seemed to be 'Erisa.' She seemed to be checking out the completeness of the city data. The man got up, walked down the hall and said, "I think we've got somebody else that may pose a threat. Any luck on tracing the Georgia Tech fellas?"
