Metafire

Over the weekend Jack kept thinking about USSS 26. He felt he should not do anything until he returned back to the FBI office, but on Monday, with Erisa away, he just couldn't help himself. He turned on Erisa's MacIntosh and clicked on the Internet web browser. They had played a little on the web over the weekend because he wanted to get some furniture hardware replaced and the web was a good place to buy things. This time he typed into the 'location' window: "http://www.metafire.com." The familiar Home Page came up, but he figured he shouldn't use his FBI address, so he typed "erisam@Aol.com." This was Erisa's return address. Metafire offered a Netbill charge for access, and Jack typed "probably." He was in.

The Metafire City Museum page was up. On it was the familiar burning and crackling strip across the top but now a set of icon and city names. There they were, exactly the cities that had been nuked:

Boston, U.S.

Denver, U.S.

Miami, U.S.

New York City, U.S.

Moscow, Russia
