"And how do you propose to accomplish this, John? There are no jails in space. It would be ridiculously expensive to transport all of us back to earth."

"George, you are asking us to take on the role of judge and jury here. We are simply the police. We cannot impose a sentence on you. You want us to impose the sentence of banishment. Since that's also pretty much a case of suicide on your part, you are also asking us to break the law."

"Then, we will give you our signatures on an admission of guilt. Take it to your judges. Have them issue the settlement. It will save you millions of dollars."
