Erisa noticed that Jane was still pre-occupied with the logistics of moving the radioactive devices in close quarters. The colonists were moving around equipment as shields. She looked back at the display and sent return mail:

Wendy:

I have a story for you. Don't write back. I'm in space in the Metafire colony. I've been kidnapped. These are the terrorists. Go for it. Chec

She quickly hit SEND. Jane was returning. The message disappeared from the screen.

Back in Washington, an FBI censor sent John Ferguson Erisa's mail. He did not know it was from Erisa. It was simply from "customer_support@metafire.com." But it was absolutely clear. When Ferguson showed it to the Major, the Major understood in an instant, and said, "John, I don't know how clear this has to be. Wonder whether this is from Erisa or Randy? It is mailed to Wendy Peebles at today dot com. Let's get her on the phone." It didn't take thirty seconds.

"Yes." Wendy answered.
