Metafire

"I have another idea. This sounds crazy." Ferguson had a tendency toward those crazy ideas. "We take an innocent guy with no connection or knowledge of us, and have him stay at Erisa's. If this guy gets nabbed, we can try to follow. If we lose him, at least we give Erisa a way to save Jack. If he talks, they won't believe him. If they do believe him, it stops there. We get another chance at getting them. But, we might, by then, have enough information to know whether Metafire is the culprit."
"Wow, John." The Major was amazed. "The Washington Post has a heyday with the FBI and the Defense Department. I should invite one of my CIA friends into this, and we could involve them, too!"
"I guess that could happen," Ferguson smiled.
The Major then realized how good the basic idea was, "OK. Now that I think about it, I like it. Where are we going to find the poor stooge to stand in for Jack?"
"Well, let's think about it. Obviously, Major, you could find a soldier. Maybe that would be the right thing."
"Where am I going to get a Marine in a couple of hours? You know, they are just lying all around Houston!" he said, reviving his sarcasm. But there were people similar to soldiers lying all about Houston. "How about a policeman?"
