The Lieutenant shook his head up and down in a weak, cautious, maybe.

"I think so."

"OK." Erisa really wanted to talk to Jack. USSS 26 was still refusing to link to a bonifide colony. Those people were going to have problems surviving the weekend. She couldn't understand their reticence.

"OK, see ya." Jack hung up and said, "That's it. I don't have any more calls to make. I need to get back to Jill upstairs."

"OK." The Lieutenant followed him back.

On entering the office area, Jack sat down in his cubicle and typed on the net browser, "http://www.metafire.com." Up came the Home Page and then the system locked up. Jack got up and walked over to Jill's office.

"Is there something wrong with the net?"

"Yeh. The systems people just shut down access. They need to explicitly log and copy all our activity. It will be a few minutes for them to set that up. Sorry, Jack. I know this is a lousy way to start work."
