"What if we say no? What can you do?" Angela could not see how the FBI could make this happen.

Ferguson then informed her, "I don't think you could blow up the bomb. The evidence says that the people of Metafire didn't intend to hurt anyone. Why would you hurt them now? If you believe us, and believe that we are not lying about the evidence, then you will give up George. I don't believe that you would use the bomb on us. George would, you wouldn't."

There was silence. Nobody really knew what to say. It was clear that, at the least, there was a stalemate. The US government had finally taken the advantage. Jane decided to close the discussion. "John, right now you can't have your people move the bomb. My mother, Angela, will let the supply tug bump it, but the bomb will still be sensitive to any dramatic movements. I will wait until the tug arrives to pick me up. That should be the day after tomorrow. During that time, we will discuss your proposal."

Ferguson was silent as the Metafire terminated the video connection.
